The drawback is the depth of cut is limited, and normally with roots you can only cut in from one side ie the top. So to go thicker you have to cut enough room to get the body of the machine in.

Main risk of injury is putting your back out being bent over.

Soil and stones are no bother for it? While trying to get the root? I guess it'll cut paving slabs with a diamond tip blade too
