I have a relatively little used Brother HL110 Monochrome printer, cheap and nasty I know, but it is only used for domestic printing of the occasional letter and it was a laser printer and therefore cheap to keep printing supplies.
It is not particularly good quality printing but it serves the purpose when it operated correctly.
I am getting heavy vertical lines printed about 6 cms in from the righthand side of every printed page, each line is about 2 cms long and repeats every 10cms, suggesting a roller issue. I have removed the print cartridge and cleaned the accessible roller, I have cleaned every accessible part of the assembly and still these heavy lines get deposited on every printed page.
Brother are of no help what so ever and referred me to a local Brother service agent. They want £40 just to look at it, and the printer cost less than that.
I know you get what you pay for but I didn't pay for a printer which is unfit for purpose.
Can anyone give me any advice on how to address this printer problem?

What about running some old style blotting paper through a few times?
One other possibility is the mat that soaks up surplus ink on cleaning (ever wondered where it goes?) is saturated, the total rip off with many printers is the pad cannot be replaced so built in obsolescence after a finite number of uses.

Great idea Footprints, Did that a few times and it cleared up the printing a treat.
Thanks for the tip.
