I have burned a video to DVD but can only play it on my computer. I am unable to play it on my DVD player. I get a message "Can't play".
I thought perhaps it wasn't finalised but I can't see an option to do this.

What type of DVD did you burn to? Some players are fussy what they're reading from, what make n model is it, how old?

I use Maxwell DVD-R. I have always used them for dubbing DVDs on the DVD recorder and they have always played OK. It is a Sony HXD890 DVD Recorder and it is just over a year old.

Sounds to me like you have burned an AVI file to DVD but your DVD player does not play AVI files

If am right then you will need to download some software that encodes the AVI into VOB, the one I use burns to DVD straight after encoding

More info pliz........

File type you are burning to DVD?
Software you are using to burn to DVD?

Thank you for your reply. I am burning a Video with music and I use Cyberlink or Windows DVD maker. I have tried burning it on to DVD+R and when I put it in the DVD player it shows on the screen but when I press 'play' I just get the music and no visuals.

There are many types of video file, AVI MPEG and MP4 are the main ones
