Can soakaway pipe go over shared sewer drain?

There is a rainwater down pipe at the back of our garage. In order for the water to go to a soakaway 5m away from the back of the house, the pipe to the soakaway will need to go over the shared sewer drain that runs along the back of us and our neighbour's house.

Are there any issues with doing this (in terms of physically building)? And are there any regulations around putting a pipe over a shared drain?

If the shared drain is combined surface and foul you might be alowed to connect into it. You would have to ask your supplier.

That's interesting. This particular rainwater down pipe was previously going into a soakaway (which is now under our extension), so I doubt the drain is combined surface and foul. But ... it's worth looking into. Thank you for the suggestion.
