Hi all, I have a composite door which has not been fitted properly. I've no idea how old it is as it was on the house when I bought it a couple of years ago but it has always been like this while I've lived here.
The basic problem is that it does not sit flush to the door frame in places so lets in a draft. The top right corner of the frame (from inside) sticks out a bit as if it has not been installed square / straight. The gap along the top and bottom of the door is uneven, much larger on the right. It can't seem to be adjusted as the bottom left side of the door (from inside) is almost scraping on the floor (which rips the seal off) and the top left side is almost touching the frame. So the door can't go up any higher.
Two separate people have tried adjusting the hinges and not managed to rectify the problem. The last one saying he thinks the frame is not square which is my thought too. Another one says he thinks the top hinge needs replacing which I'm confused as to how that would fix anything.
Now my question is, is it possible to reframe a composite door? Nobody seems interested or they say they can't. I thought it would be possible to take the frame out. Install it properly and put the door back on? All I've had is people try sell me a new door. Or say they can adjust the hinges and it never works if anything its worse. The frame to my eye it not square / straight and there's not room to adjust the door to compensate. Here are some pictures. I feel its impossible to find someone to sort it and may need to bite the bullet and just get a new door? But it feels a waste of a door that is otherwise fine.
