Can you dry plaster out too quickly

Hi

We're in the middle of doing our kitchen and our plasterer wasn't able to make it over this week as arranged so now is going to finish off Saturday.

Usually this wouldn't be a problem but we've got a kitchen fitter booked for Monday, and I know it wont be dry! So I was thinking of hiring out some sort of industrial heater to get the room dry.

Would this cause problems (drying it too quickly or taking the moisture out of it) or would it be ok?

Hi Duckegg,

If it dries too quickly then there's every chance it will crack.

Don't use an industrial heater! Your room will be like an oven.

All you can really do is ventilate the room well to allow the moisture to escape.

Thanks Fred, I've seen them use them on TV DIY programs and wondered if it absorbs the moisture too quickly!

Our kitchen fitters go the batroom to finish still so he wont be bored :)

No problem. Like I say, I could cause cracking but you could get away ith it. Personally I wouldn't risk it.

LOL, these diy programmes make me laugh. The likes of changing room and stuff I mean, how can you say, "we've got three days to do this" when it's a seven day job?! I always wonder just how long these "refurbishments" stand up to everyday life!
