Cannon cooker problem ......our Cannon Henley electric/gas cooker......the grill thermostat appears to have stopped working, and is causing our smoke alarm to work overtime!
Is this easily fixed please (I’m not gifted in this respect), or do we need professional help, and if so, will it be horribly expensive?

Any help much appreciated.

this is an electric halogen grill? Marked "door must always be fully open while grill is in use?"

I don't think the grill has a thermostat. It has a power setting.

You set the power number, and choose the shelf height, according to the speed of cooking required.

What happens when you try to use it?

It is as shown, but has a “solarplus” grill, defo has some sort of regulator, would turn itself off/on according to setting......has performed perfectly for 15 years.

We set the power, as we always have, the heat comes on and stays on, instead of regulating itself as it used to,resulting in charred remains!

I have a similar one. The upper cavity has an oven thermostat, but the halogen grill just comes on at whatever brightness you set, and stays at that level.

If you set your grill to level 1, does it come full on?

Yes it does....previously it would turn itself off, then on to regulate the temperature, now it stays on full.

Telephone cannon and see if the part is available if it is, you just need a skilled appliance repair chap to fit it.
You will need model and serial no to find if the part is available.

Better still post an image of the data badge on here, I can check for you on a trade website.

I'm not familiar with your model and I'm wondering if it's actually a timer that's gone so when you put it to a 'power' setting it's actually the length of time the grill is on, a bit like a dualit toaster.
Thermostats control temperature only and don't normally turn off but control the temperature, timers control time I'm betting it's a mechanical timer that's siezed up .....WD40 ! Model and serial no ......I can bring up a exploded diagram with that info .
