Not printing anything at all. Presumed head was clogged/dried up so soaked it and pretty sure it's clear. Got new ink cartridges in. Nothing.
Have run deep cleaning, nothing....
Anyone got an offer dea what I could try next?

Thanks!

Oh, maybe.. Though Colour seemed to come out of the head when I poured water into pad at top.....

Print head definitely clean now but still not printing ANYTHING.

Any ideas anyone?
Thanks!

Are your new cartridges Canon brand or something else? It's not unknown for printer manufacturers to chip cartridges so that the printer won't accept non-OEM ones.

Hmmm, good question. I think they are unbranded.. However the printer seems to recognize them.. Ink levels displayed etc...

Frustrating!

Buy a new decent printer.

Yep. I think I'm nearing a point of admitting defeat. Maybe though, just maybe, the non genuine ink cartridges are not working, despute printer recognizing and ink levels being read correctly....

Having faffed about with various crappy cheapo printers over the years and then spending an absolute fortune during lockdown printing out school crap we ended up getting an Epson Ecotank, it was much more expensive than anything weve had before but it's been brilliant and should actually be cheaper in the long run. According to the counter it's done 450 prints, 120 were B/W and the ink levels are about 90%, I was forever having palpatations every time we had to print something or the kids or missus wanted to print off some frivolous rubbish as it was just so expensive but not anymore.

Somewhat off topic but I stopped buying inkjet years ago. I switched over to a laser printer. Yes it cost more to buy, but I’m now in a situation where instead of buying ink once every month or so I now buy toner only once every 18 months. Truth is inkjet printers are a total rip off, and if you’ve bought a particularly cheap inkjet, it’s often more cost effective to replace the printer when it’s out of ink rather than buying replacement cartridges.

Anything to do with printers is a rip off especially the price of cartridges. I have used refillables and whilst that is a cheaper option the mess involved just isn't worth it similarly the eco tank printers. Lasers are cheaper in the long run but even the cartridges for those is a rip off. Once a printer starts doing what the OP's is doing it's time to bin it and Canons are not the best by a long way. having said that I have a HP wide format inkjet printer that I have had for about 3 years and it is still going strong. I have only ever used clone cartridges in that although I haven't updated the printer because I am told that the update will prevent me from using clones. I bought a new print head assembly when I bought the printer and haven't used it yet. Prior to that I had three Epsons wide formats two which were replaced under the guarantee and the third went outside of the guarantee and that's when I bought the HP Officejet. I also have a laser, a Xerox Phasor 6510. It's okay but it's a nightmare to print with as it doesn't seem to wake up easily when I send a print job to it especially if I send it via it's wireless connection. Cartridges are expensive but do last. Dread the day when I have to replace the drum or any of the innards though. It will be time for a new one then.

Well hopefully if your laser printer is decent enough you’ll get plenty of use out of it before you need to replace any innards!

And I definitely agree with your opinion that printers are a rip off market! As my dad would say “they see us coming”!

I went over from inkjet to mono laser a couple of years ago. No more clogged print-heads/cartridges !!
On the odd occasion I want a colour print I can get an A4 one done by a local shop for 50p.

Not sure you're right on the Ecotank printers there, genuine ink is about £30 and will do thousands of prints, that said I wouldn't use it for anything specialist such as photos etc but absolutely fine as an everyday printer.
