I'm looking at ordering a high quality 80/20 close knit carpet but I can't help but feel the softness of the carpet doesn't compare with the some of the higher piled carpets. I've heard that the higher piled carpets will just flatten if used in high traffic ares. What type of underlay should I use to get the softest feeling underfoot? I'm willing to pay to get decent underlay but I don't want to get ripped off in store by paying £10m2 for poor quality underlay. I'd rather source this myself but not sure what to look for. I've done some research and PU foam seems to be best. How do I know which PU foam is the best?
