Hi

Do you normally continue the cavity wall insulation up into the gable ends? Is there any point?

Cheers, Chris

Yes thats how Ive seen it done-a single skin wouldnt be strong enough and the cavity is there as a damp barrier.

It is a requirement. The point is to stop the insulation getting damp and prevent cavity bridging.

Interesting point - I don't think they injected above first floor ceiling insulation level on the gable end wall when they did my house a year or so ago.
I need to raise this with the insulation company.

If it’s those free flowing polystyrene balls or similar, depending on how the top of the gable wall is detailed, isn’t there a chance they could end up going into the loft space/soffits? Could be wrong tho, just a thought!
