A year ago alongside a new combi boiler we got a new room thermostat/timer, Center RF 340017, which I believe is a rebranded Honeywell. Sometimes when pressing a button on it (e.g. to manually change the temperature), the display switches off and after a few seconds asks to set the time, essentially as if I had removed the batteries. This morning, even worse, it did this without being disturbed, which is a real issue as it doesn't seem to call for heat until you confirmed the date.
I tried new batteries but that didn't seem to fix the intermittent issue (when pressing buttons at least). Any other ideas?
And if it gives up the ghost, is it possible to manually call for heat from the receiver at the boiler end (the receiver has a button but its functions are not explained in the manual)?
Thanks.

I got it changed. Wolsey did say they had some faulty batches.
Does it take time for the optimal stop function (I activated that function) on the replacement to learn, or should it work right away (it didn't switch off early last night, as I had expected given the old one's behaviour)?

I had a 340017 installed with a new combi Baxi 830 last November, and on 4 occasions now, it has asked for the Date to be input again. I shall call my heating engineer tomorrow. I am presuming, that the fixed Receiver has to be replaced as well as the mobile Thermostat. I'm glad I checked on here.

2 min job the fixed reciever just pops off leaving back housing and the wiring new one just pushes back on
