Changing Browsers

Currently (for my sins) using IE11 running under Windows 8.

Trying to change to either Chrome or Firefox.

Chrome will not download despite the relevant files being permitted through the firewall

Firefox loads but then will not return any results

Tried with firewall turned off completely - same result.

Any tips?

Only thing I can suggest is if you are using an after-market security norton or whatever when you turn off protection windows 8 may be turning on the inbuilt firewall by default, or if you haven't up graded to 8.1 the browsers may not recognise it.
