Cheap legit software

last time I looked, your payment just brought you a voucher. To get the software you then had to provide evidence that you were in full-time education at some proper place.

Because those sites are as shady as most torrent sites, lie more, and get you an upgrade version which still requires a legit copy of XP or Vista.
 
Ok, so I was wrong.

Buying it under the pretense of being a student is still illegal.

Advertising that site as a cheap way to get a legit copy of Windows when it's not even a full copy of Windows, and it's not legal, is wrong.
 
Many large companies are able to have an agreement with Microsofts HUP (Home Use Programme) that enables employees to purchase software at knockdown prices. I got MS Office PRO 2007 for about £11-00.
 
The Teacher/Student EULA is quite strict. You need to check if the User is eligible. They are not simply a method for anyone to get cheap software. The HUP is good if your company uses volume licensing and subscribe to the deal.

A small percentage of customers do have to send proof that they have a child or grandchild in education or that they work in education.

I think the levels are about 3% but heavy buyers are put on hold pending verification.

Having to email a copy of my kid's school ID in order to save £2200 on a copy of Abode CS5 Master Collection is a minor inconvinience.

And for what is worth these are not the home and student versions you get in PC world

"The end user licensee must be a student in one of the registered schools or colleges".

I posted a link to a site that allows parents to buy full versions of software for their kids at prices much lower than the retarded home and student software that you can get from the likes of pc world.

You slag me off for falsely advertising a site, claiming I said that they sell full copies of W7- then when I question you, you correctly apologise and go on to accuse someone else. No one in this thread has said that the site sells full copies of w7. Just because you imagine things it doesn't make them real.

Before you accuse anyone of theft can you please show me where it explicitly states that only the student named is allowed to ever use the software?

I never claimed you said that, nor did I say it was in this thread. Iadmit the statement was far from clear.

If the software they're selling under academic terms to students is not the academic version, you may disregard.
