hi guys, I’m planning on cladding over my fence panels with roof battens as in the picture posted, my question is will this work with concrete posts?

I plan on bolting a length of treated 3x1 for example to each concrete post and screwing the battens to each post. Over a length of 5m.

The reason for me doing this is because my next door doesn’t want to change the existing panels.

Thanks

Also, if they’re your neighbours fence panels, I’d assume the concrete posts are his too. Be careful a year down the line he doesn’t decide to replace it all and dig up the concrete posts. Unlikely, but a possibility

As a side note, love the look of the cladding/batton horizontally, it’s what we want to do in one corner of our garden

assuming its fully his fence you are not allowed to attach to or treat the fence without his permission

Why not stick your own wooden posts in, between your neighbours posts using metposts and clad to them? You may lose a few inches on your side but it’ll stop any problems in the future.

The fence is actually my side but because he’s very old and I get on with him I’d rather look at other options.

Iv got lovely porcelain tiles butted right up to the gravel boards under the fences so would he a head ache to put new wooden posts in

have you thought about offering to replace the panels and share the cost or indeed fully cover the cost off new panels and disposal off old at your expense and let him organize the replacement off his fence
as long as you pay and he organizes it it can never be an argument that you have adopted the fence :D;)
