Wondering if anyone here can give me some advice.
Recently bought a Victorian terraced flat (ground floor) and discovered a slow leak into one the walls from the old lead cold water pipe that supplies the upstairs flat. Plumber has sealed it off, created a junction and run an alternative plastic pipe outside, up the wall and back into the upstairs flat.
He's coming back to lag it, but I'm fairly sure, insulated or not, running the cold water supply outside is mental - and will more than likely freeze over winter.
Apart from external taps, a supply to your garage etc, do cold water pipes EVER get run outside?
Neither us or our neighbour want to be spending the money to replace all the internal lead piping right now, but at the least, should the replacement not have been run up a channel in one of the internal walls?
