com port one stopped working

hello peeps

been home for abount an hour trying to get my com port 1 to start working... just stopped for some reson when i turned the pc on..

done a system restore..

checked for conflicts...

home hub is working i am on lap top

cable is ok

can any one help , need it for work tonight....

windows xp is the operating system

delete it from device manager and restart and let it reinstall.
