Hi all.

As the title says, I'm trying to find out if it's possible to get something along these lines using a grid system to replace an existing external setup. I would rather have a black/Dark Grey unit instead of the usual light grey if possible and I've found an enclosure that "fits the bill" HERE. It says it accepts grid modules but the manufacturers associated modules don't include a switched 1G socket. All the modules are available from another manufacturer, namely a switched 13A single socket, a fuse module & a 20A DP switch but I cannot find out if that manufacturers range will fit inside the weatherproof enclosure. Are these fittings governed by a single standard perchance? I.e. they will fit as long as the mounting holes for the yolks/plates are the standard spacings ?

Also, can the separate modules be fitted touching one another in a 4G faceplate or should they ideally have a strip of the faceplate between each module, in which case can faceplates be sourced that have one 2G opening (for the 13A socket module) and 2 X 1G openings (for the DP switch and Fuse Module ?

TIA for any advice offered.

if the modules you intend to fit are euro module size ie 50x50 or 50x25 then fitting them in a data faceplate and fitting that in the housing should work

should fit the bill and they dont need a gap between them

Thanks @Sureitsoff? never thought of using a dataplate  I'll see if there's a switched 1G socket available and I'll be sorted (y)
Thanks, SIO?.

Saved me the searching!
Cheers for looking at my post @securespark, much appreciated (y)

Thanks again guys :giggle:

I don't think you can get a switched 13a euromodule socket but I could be wrong, and usually am!

I think there is not enough room on a 50x50mm plate for switch but if you have a switch separate but alongside it's the same anyway.

It's beginning to look like that @Sureitsoff? unfortunately but I'll keep looking. I'm sure some manufacturer will have summat out there, it's just a case of finding it . I really don't want to go down the two enclosure route if I can help it so wish me luck

I don't think its possible to get a switch in that space, I've just measured a very ordinary moulded plug at 45x45mm

I can't remember how the bits fit in these but the panels can be arranged to accomodate different shaped wallwarts: https://www.toolstation.com/bg-ip66...aWn3K6SPC4W_a5Qzw6xoCPfIQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

It says it accepts grid modules
The listing you have linked to is misleading. It doesn't directly take grid modules at all. It takes a "double" sized accessory.

Be aware that Scholmore click have three different modular systems. "Minigrid", "GridPro" and "New media".
"Minigrid" and "Gridpro" are click-specific, and the ranges do not include 13A sockets.

"New-media" are "standard"* "Euro modules", and the new media range does include 13A sockets (as well as several other types).

Unfortunately, a 13A socket, two switches and a fuse adds up to 5 modules, and a Euro module double plate only accepts four modules.

So basically if you want to build a combined socket and FCU out of Euro modules and fit it on a "double" plate you have to give up switching on either the socket or the FCU.

What you really want IMO is an enclosure designed to accomodate two single accessories. Unfortunately few manufactuers seem to make those, I did find one but it's light grey. https://www.electricals247.co.uk/enterna-outdoor-enclosure-box-2-x-1-gang-dual-waterproof-35178/

*If anyone can actually find a standard for the bloody things do let me know.

I saw that when I first started looking but like you I noticed it's an ever lighter grey than most outdoor enclosures (n). Seems to be the story of my life this, wanting things that aren't available

Nope, it's my life, too!

Generally, when I want a direct, identical replacement, it's not available. But when I want something different and new, I can only find the same old designs.

I had about a dozen battery/mains amplifiers for outdoor PA work all identical inside, however externally I had 5 different models and when stacked up they didn't look as tidy as should have been.

The first couple I purchased (about 3 months apart) looked very different but then not available when I went for more.
