Hi

I was bought 4 strands of cotton ball fairy lights from Thailand by a relative.

The relative was told they could be connected together to make one string of lights but no such luck.

I still want to connect the strands by wiring them together. Each strand has 20 bulbs. The plug on each strand is marked '220V 3amp'. The bulbs themselves do not have any markings but seem like standard fairy light bulbs, so i expect the bulb to be around 3v.

What would be the best way to connect these lights together? And as they are series circuit lights, I am guessing, with 80 lights connected together, they might be too dim if the bulbs are sharing the voltage?

Any help would be appreciated.

Each of the strands is deigned to run off 220/240v. As there are 20 lamps on each strand, each lamp is 12 volts (or thereabouts) connected in series (a single cable from the plug running from lamp to lamp and back to the plug) so 12 x 20 =240. Thus, you will not be able to connect all four strands together to form one long strand, as this would require the lamps to be 3v not 12v.
