Hi
I have a question about the consumer unit. According to the IEE reg the RCD needs to be on the left next to the MCBS on a TT system since thats what we use in my country. Now on the electrical diagram of a 40A domestical RCD 30ma it says that the live wire should be on 1&2 and 3&4 the neutral however when you connect the bussbar to the mcbs and rcd it is a bit of a problem since the neutral is on the way. Can i change the live and neutral on the RCD. Polarity shouldn't be a prob I suppose?or put it on the right?
Thanks
Charles

reversal of phase/line and neutral won't affect operation of the rcd

but normally you'd follow the manuf. instructions if the poles are marked

Not sure which reg states it must be on the left?? I take it you are talking about BS7671?

AFAICT, the regs do not specify the layout of a consumer unit.

Can you elaborate, please?
