Can anyone advise which dimmer I need to buy from these 2:

One switch will be used in the living room with a light fitting, I will purchase dimmable e14 bulbs to go with the fitting. This light fitting http://www.wilko.com/ceiling+wall-l...rome-effect-ceiling-lightfitting/invt/0326075 :

The other switch is going to be used in master bedroom which has downlights, I will purchase dimmable gu10's.

Just wondering which is the correct dimmer switch for each room from the above.

Many Thanks

Thanks, I asked the store too and they said they are both the same. They also said:
'They are both led compatible. When purchasing your lamps please ensure they are leading edge compatible if they are trailing edge then you will experience flickering, buzzing and they will eventually pop.'

So I guess I need to get leading edge bulbs, so I will need ses and gu10 types.
From a quick google mose dimmable bulbs are compatible with both leading edge and trailing edge dimmer switches, or am I mistaken?

Old fashioned bulbs with incandescent filaments can be dimmed by reducing the effective voltage supplied to them.

Halogen filled bulbs can be dimmed by reducing the effective voltage supplied to them but this can reduce the life of the bulb.

LED lamps have an LED element ( the bit that produces light ) and a driver that controls ( drives ) the DC current through the LED element. If the driver can be told to reduce the current through the LED element then the LED can be dimmed.

The means to tell the driver in the lamp to vary the current is were it gets complicated. Some LED drivers will work best with trailing edge dimmers, others work better with trailing edge dimmers and some will not work well with any type of dimmer even though it is claimed that they will.

"" effective voltage "" this can be a rapidly pulsing or fluctuating voltage that averages out to be the rated voltage of the supply.
