Hi everyone,

My bathroom has Marmoleum linoleum floor, the traditional type, not vinyl type. However it has worn and stained significantly and lost waterproofing in several places. I dont think linseed oil would be able to revive it.

We are planning major kitchen/bathroom refurb work in a couple of years, and I'm looking for stop-gap solution that does not involve replacing the floor for now (as we will certainly have to take it up again later). Vinyl is one option, however I'm thinking if it's possible to prime and paint over the linoleum, with a couple layers of polyurethane on top. I quite like painted floor look in general, however worried if the paint will just sink straight through the linoleum.

Hope to hear your suggestion.
