Suggestions for covering a wood fence in an are that gets more shade than sun? I prefer shrubs over vines.

Mahonia is a fantastic shrub in a shady area. I have one under a tree and it is spectacular, with yellow flowers in the autumn and I now have clusters of blue berries which will last for months. Well worth it.
