Hi, I had a gas fire fitted 4.5 years ago, it was installed incorrectly so it was dismantled and reinstalled. It lasted one winter then broke the following winter. It took the company who fitted it 7 month to repair it, which involved fitting something on the chimney to increase ventilation and a new part from the manufacturer. It worked for another winter and this winter again it wasnt working! It's now been fixed by a gas engineer from a different company. It was fixed last night, I used it last night and today but then when I put it on tonight I noticed a crack from the top corner going downwards diagonally. I contacted the manufacturer who said it's due to the screw being over tightened, however when I suggested this to the gas engineer he is stating it couldn't have been as it wouldve cracked last night and the plate wouldn't apply enough pressure to damage it. When he came out to fix the fire previously, he commented that the way the burn marks were on the inside of the glass suggests it wasnt burning properly. So I am wondering if this couldve weakened the glass or if it was an over tightened screw? Any thoughts/advice? Thanks
