Hi,

About 2 months ago the steels were put in for our single storey extension.
My daughter has just told us cracks are showing up in her room. Her room is directly above where the wall was removed and steels inserted.

Our builder is now gone and I don't want to hassle him if this is totally normal, although when we asked before commencing the build he did say he wouldn't expect any to appear in the room above.

My gut are these are superficial cracks due to the settlement of the wall onto the steel. But at the same time it's hard not to worry.

Looking at the pictures below would you say these cracks are normal and they will be okay to just fill and forget about?

Thank you for any advice

Perfectly normal. Get your daughter to get her mates round for a room party with lots of dancing to make sure the wall has fully settled on the steels before making good.

Brilliant, thank you for putting my mind at rest.

The daughter certainly wouldn't need asking twice.

Totally not normal. Search the forum for similar posts.

There should be no cracking, none.

Lol at the "I don't want to bother the builder" that my house is now potentially moving after his work. What a great customer.
