I am weighing up the prospect of creating an opening into my garage from my house. The garage is integral but there isn't presently a way through directly from the house.... I have to go out the front door of the house and in via the main garage door.

Typical 1970s brick built house - no cavity insulation.

Suspended timber floor inside house.

I'm thinking of using two concrete lintels - but not sure if I need to prop it while I fit them. Only looking to create a typical door way size opening and will fit a high security door.

I'm ok with how to do the work.... but not sure if I'll need to prop it and if building control need telling.

Wouldn’t necessarily need to prop it but might be a cavity tray issue further up depending how exposed/state of outer leaf

It's not exposed.... the wall is the central wall in the house.... its not (and never has been) an external wall.... so I don't think they'll be any trays above it anywhere.

It's a fully internal wall.

It's the wall that seperates the garage from the house. It's brick on the garage side, and hollow blocks on the inner leaf..... plastered obviously.

Ok, I assumed house was 2 storey and garage single. For that size opening I wouldn’t prop, just be careful with the triangular section that’d end up unsupported. And get one leaf lintel in and packed before doing other.
