Creating a conversation pit

How much would it cost to dig/create out a conversation pit 2.5x1.5x0.5m in the ground floor of a house?
 
How-long-is-a-piece-of-string question. Costs will be determined by a) cost of labour where you are b) what the existing floor/subfloor/subsubfloor is made of.
I hadn't heard of one until reading this post; 1.5m seems a bit narrow to me, but I suppose it depends how close you want to be to those you're conversing with.
 
It would be a dam sight easier in a Victorian house with a big void beneath wooden floors.
My house is 50's with a concrete floor under parquet, meaning DPC issues
 
The property has a concrete floor so that said what are DPC issues? sorry if that' appears as a stupid question.

And I don't want the pit to be too large.
 
Basically, your house is built on a concrete raft. (Probably)
To prevent damp entering the house, concrete is poured, a large polythene layer is added, and more concrete- think of it like a pond liner in reverse

If you dig below a couple of inches, there may be pipes/ insulation and eventually the barrier that prevents moisture coming into the living room. You would need to line the pit- or end up with a possible pond

It's not impossible, but not cheap
 
If am I am able to find out that there no pipes beneath the area what would you estimate the cost to be.

If those dimensions are for the finished pit then the hole will have to be a good bit bigger, to allow for the pit lining.
Do people still have conversations where you live? I thought all communication was done by text messages on mobiles these days :).
 
I was thinking of reviving the good old fashion face to face form of communication.
 
would you not need to comply with building regs and have a handrail all round
and say 2 steps taking up around 400mm ??
