how does one go about cutting a 105mm diameter circular hole in the ceiling plasterboard for fitting an extractor fan?

im thinking of using a stanley knife but thought there must be a neater way!

grateful for any assistance

cheers

go for the midle one, first one needs an arbour, last one too much £ for one hole

I have just cut out ahole for the same purpose using a pad saw, neat enough as the fan has a flange around its perimeter.

Problem with using a Stanley knife is that you may tear the paper backing on the plasterboard, thus weakening the board slightly.

A hole saw is the easiest and neatest option. Whatever you do, don't do what I once did when making a hole for a downlighter: I used a flat wood bit! The amount of dust it made was terrible, and without goggles and a respirator would be very unhealthy for eyes and lungs (but still stings when landing on sweaty skin).
