I had Vinyl flooring fitted in my kitchen in 2015. A few days ago I cooked myself a baked potato in the microwave (as I have done many times before!). However, after ten minutes (2 x 5 minutes) + 2 minutes cooling; the potato was black! Therefore I put the potato in the bin and microwaved another potato, which I then eat.

After eating the second potato I went back to the kitchen only to find that the first potato has burned through my bin bag; plastic bin and had damaged one tile in my vinyl floor! Therefore I need to repair the vinyl floor. The damage is shown in the file attached.

I have looked into it and found this:

I have also looked for local repair vinyl floor specialists who do not seem to exist. Has anyone had any experience with this and what did you do? United Carpets unsurprisingly tell me I need to refit the vinyl in the entire kitchen, however I believe this is a worse case scenario.

I don't have any spare vinyl (I threw it away at the end of last year). However, I believe I can either cut some from under an appliance or buy some here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Modern-L...ct-Vinyl-Flooring-2m-3m-4m-Wide-/112590142587

I have two options:

1) Refit the kitchen floor and possible claim on insurance. £210 quoted by United Carpets. I guess this is what home insurance is for.
2) Repair the kitchen floor.

The vinyl comes in a roll rather than tiles.

Third option, put the bin back on top and forget it.
I will have to fix it sooner rather than later, so I am thinking sooner. It is very unsightly even though it can be covered by the bin.
