Damp on an interior wall

I noticed on an interior wall there was white powder on the paint, and the paint was peeling and bubbling, and after a while I noticed that the skirting board started to bow so I removed it and it smelt and looked damp.

It started to dry out but over a few days I noticed the skirting board on the other side of the wall was also bowing so I lifted it to find black marks which I assume to be mould.

I took the skirting board and paper off and it was damp with black marks.

On the wall there was also a red, wet brick which was breaking up like sand when touched, however now, 3 days later, it seems to be drying out.

Can anybody advise??

The house is about 50 yrs old, never had an issue like this before however we did have some work done last year in kitchen and bathroom, they did try to turn the stop tap off but it was stuck so one of the tradesmen changed it for us and put water filter on. Could any of this be the problem?

Please help me, I really don't know who to call: plumber? builder? water board? damp professional??

is it next to a doorframe or window? When was it fitted?

show us the frame inside and out.

What is on the other side of the wall?

Stand back and take some wider pics.

Yes by the porch door which was originally the main front door to the house, but someone build a porch on, before we moved in 27years.
Otherwise is the kitchen not by door or window.

I see the kitchen is on the other side of the wall. kitchen commonly contain sinks, taps, washing machines, boilers, pipes and drains, all of which contain water.

So start by looking for a leak.

Has your boiler got a pressure gauge? What does it read?

have you got a water meter? Does it ever stop turning?

is there a concrete floor?

If we assume that the incoming watermain travels in a straight line between the stopcock where the front gate used to be, and the pipe rising through the floor where the kitchen sink used to be, how near the damp patch do you think it is?

Can we have some pictures of the outside, please. All the way from the house gutter to the ground, with particular reference to the porch roof, rainwater downpipe, and drains or gullies.

Omg that was hard to get to look at stop tap...
Yes concrete floor....
Yes it comes up from floor difficult to see.

Do cleaned all behind washer and dishwasher... The pipe to washer seemed to have a dry water mark....
Can't feel round old stop top.
We've put cardboard down will check tomo if wet..

OP,
In most all the house interior pics you've posted so far each one shows signs of rising damp.

There might be a black plastic membrane (DPM) installed under the solid floor - hard to tell? The edges of any DPM would show at the floor to wall abutment ie behind the skirting?
And as far as what you show there's no evidence so far that you have a DPC in the walls.
On the left hand side of the the porch, the wood flooring appears to be damp - is this the case?

I dont see any signs of an active leak - although the pics show bad pipework.
Why do you have two isolating valves in roughly the same place?

I noticed one air brick high on the house wall - i now see two air bricks there. For what purpose, perhaps, a previous attempts to deal with damp issues?
