Good afternoon everyone,

Thank you for this forum! I've only just discovered it and I wish I had years ago.

We are in the process of dismantling our old kitchen ready for a new one to be installed (by a fitter).

We bought the house 2 years ago and behind the kitchen cupboards on the exterior wall, we noticed the wall was virtually black behind the cabinets. We could only see through the holes where piping existed so we couldn't get a full view of how extensive it was.

I've taken off the first two base units today and this is what the state of the wall is. To my untrained eye I'm thinking the plaster needs removing back to brick and then applying a bitumen damp course before getting it replastered. The wiring is another story, it looks horrific.

Can anyone please look at the photos and give me your opinion? Thank you

Just black mould caused by unventilated areas behind cupboards . Clean and paint .
This would be amazing if it was that easy. I was hoping before taking the units out that it would be straightforward, I guess my mind is thinking otherwise. Thank you
