Any advice on the below?

We are renovating our house and found a very damp inside corner of an external wall, where the original wall of the house was knocked through to a single storey extension. You can see in the photo the wider footing of the house. Our builder thinks this is because the air brick was blocked (now unblocked) and a gutter on the outside, which is on the inside corner was dripping. It doesn't look wet where the footing is on the inside, only above it. The DPM is the slate type, which can be seen on the outside.

Will this just dry out by itself (the builder thinks it will) and is there any way we can speed it up? We like to decorate soon.

Thanks for any advice
