Please can I get some advice.
I accidentally scuffed a brand-new painted wall in my home, after we ran out of the Dulux shade of paint that was used to paint the wall.
I didn’t think I would need much more to fix it, so I bought a small tester pot of the same colour.
However, when I applied it to the scuffed areas, it dried darker than the shade on the wall.
So I decided to buy a 2.5-litre pot of paint of the same Dulux shade, and I painted the area again and most of the dark marks disappeared so I thought it just needed a slight touch-up after it dried.
However, after drying, when I applied it again, to get rid of the now feint dark marks, new dark areas were left after the paint dried. Some of it dried okay whereas other areas had these dark streaks.
I initially thought it was the cheap paintbrush I was using so I bought an expensive one, but it didn’t make any difference - more, different, dark marks were left after painting the same area with the more expensive paintbrush.
It was definitely the right colour as I had already applied it to two different walls with the same shade, and it got rid of a couple of scuff marks.
But I have no idea why I keep getting dark streaky areas on this wall. Could it be that I have applied too much paint, or is my technique just no good? (We initially hired a decorator to do the entire house).
Do you have any ideas on how to fix it? Do I now need to sandpaper it down or something?
