Dash warning-lights - MOT fail

Hi

On another forum, one poster claimed the following.

"In U.K., any wrongly illuminated dash warning light can now result in an MOT test failure."

Is that correct, that a yellow warning-light will be a fail ?

The actual discussion was about TPMS, so a second question would be if these are yellow or red warning lights.

What do they mean by "wrongly illuminated"?
What about a low windscreen washer fluid warning light illuminated but with sufficient fluid left to clear the screen?
What about a door or boot open warning light showing a door or boot open that isn't?

From the manual:

Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)​

"The inspection of the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is for M1 vehicles first used on or after 1 January 2012.

The TPMS warning lamp (see diagram 3) can operate in many ways depending on the vehicle type. You must only reject vehicles if it’s clear that the lamp indicates a system malfunction and not simply indicating that one or more of the tyre pressures is low".

It says nothing about the colour of the lamp.

Look in the official testers manual for anything. If a 'reason for refusal' (rfr) aka failure is not mentioned in there, it CANNOT be failed for it. There will be no option to fail it.

TPMS lights are supposed to be yellow (/ orange / amber) but not red. That's a type approval requirement.
