FREN, HELP ME, I DON;T KWN THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE
single pole switch, two pole switch and three pole switch,,,
i would like to kwn more abt switch and there advantages also.

A single pole switch connects/disconnects only 1 leg of a supply, usually the live. A double pole switch conects/disconnects both legs, live & neutral. A triple pole switch is usually used in a situation where you want to isolate live & neutral & a switched live ( as in a bathroom extractor fan) & connects/disconnects live neutral & switched live. They all work with a single mechanical operation (1 flick of the switch). I am sure someone will come a long with a sketch to explain it better, but I cannot work out how to post one. Try the wikki it may help.

3 pole switch is also used to switch 3-phase supplies as used in industrial machinery

4 pole switch is used to switch 3 phase and neutral

Earth is not switched, it is left connected for safety

It is very dangerous to cut the Neutral but not the line, as this causes the device to appear to be switched off but it is still live and can cause electric shock.
