Hi
Does anyone know how I get the black plastic bulb holder out of a light without breaking it?
It seems alot harder than it ought to be as its loose and doesnt appear to be attached to anything within the casing.

Photos of the other end will help.

I am guessing that there is a retaining nut further down.

There is but Ive unscrewed that so its jut the wires that are connected.

I assume the wires are cinnected to the white fitting inside the light fitting. I just cant get the black plastic bulb holder out to get to them.

The lower part of the brass fitting looks like it can be unscrewed. That will then the innards to be pulled out.

Do the two gold coloured parts separate at the join? Perhaps by unscrewing? If so does that get you anywhere?

Edit: opps beat me to it.

The black bit will pull out of the bottom. Once there you will be able to access to screws that hold the flex in place.

Well thank you guys.
I actually feel like a bit of an idiot but it worked.
In my defence it did look and feel like it was one piece as tried uncrewing it before and it wouldnt budge.
After your advice thought Id give it one last try with a rubber band round it to get some traction and it fell apart quicker than Liz Truss's government.
Thanks very much for that.
Much appreciated.

To be fair, an Es holder should not just unscrew, inside there's usually a metal tag. that sticks out, this digs into grooves set into the internal casing.
Sometimes it's part of the brass N terminal that does it.
Usually you need to bend it slightly with a screwdriver to free it.
Reassembling, it should lock back in automatically .
This is so when you unscrew a jammed Es bulb it does not inadvertently dismantle the holder.
