We've inherited a home with 18mm ply kitchen worktops but never surface finished.
They are sound and fit well.
What could I face them with to finish off?
Tiles or other?
Thankyou..

If talking about the edge some strip wood might be best.
This sort of idea, just some hardboard topped worktop in my garage, in a kitchen with some nice varnished hardwood edge nails punched and filled it could look OK.

Tiled my old kitchen with floor tiles over ply.[GALLERY=media, 6080]Untitled by foxhole posted 11 Nov 2008 at 1:48 PM[/GALLERY]

Used same tile as splash back .

Less diy but a company like granite transformations will fit a granite veneer over the top

Or fit coloured tempered glass?
Or fit (screwed) clear tempered glass with wallpaper/old cookery books under it
Or stainless /copper sheet

You can get the veneer/coating that is on normal worktops to glue on also.
I know this as we have a big roll of it stood in goods in at work :)

THe tiled one above looks good imo.

Copper sheet under glass?

Wheres the glue on veneer from?

We sometimes do appliances that have customer specified coverings on plywood fascias so I have seen many different patterns/colours come through.
I'll ask someone.

Back in the 70's it was common to cover with laminate like Formica using contact adhesive like evo stick. Boy you had to be careful it was a one shot chance getting it right! Wareite was another brand, most diy stores sold it, however while you can still get it on the internet it is hard to find now.

Wow. Looks impressive.

Why can't I see the grout lines? How big were those tiles.

No grout, butted tight with smear of clear silicone between. 600 mm square, worked out cheaper than cheapest worktop at £3 a tile.

Sorry I forgot, its been a busy week - Ill ask as soon as I can & get back.

I'm thinking of putting down 18mm Furniture Board (fixed to the ply). The board is pine. Would this work?. Any 'how to' on treating it?. Maybe other alternatives?. Best place to buy? (cost etc)
