Hi all,
I'm sorry to ask this on the forum but being Sunday Howdens is closed..

I'm eyeing up a section of worktop. The minimum size lengths of worktop that they sell are 3 metre lengths, but I forgot to ask whether they can cut them to size upon request.. Question is : do they ?

Failing Howdens, I was thinking what BandQ might have in the way of worktops, but their website is down. Same question : does BandQ cut worktops to size ?

Would I expect to pay for the cutting service?
I only need one cut to shorten the length from 3 metres to about 2.4metres..

Many thanks.

Many thanks

Pretty sure that B&Q do cut worktops as I have seen offcuts.
My local B&Q often have nobody available to cut when I go in

B&Q definitely do but sometimes the attention to getting the size right leaves something to be desired. It really depends on who you get on the day, some are really conscientious and will measure 3 times before measuring, consider the blade width etc some are merely robots and can manage to be 5mm or more off.

Howdens don't cut to size (or at least my local one doesn't)

B&Q tend to only do cutting in their superstores. Our local town one is the standard type of B&Q so if I need anything cutting down I have to go in the opposite direction to their superstore in another town.

It's been a year or so when I had some boards cut and I explained the had to be cut precisely.
Guy cutting was great. He set it up to the mark, measured with a tape rule and put a small pencil mark, checked with me the blade was cutting on the waste side then cut it. After each cut he checked the measurement and asked me to verify it.

Not saying they would do that with everyone but I explained they had to be the precise measurement. Back in Liverpool they always seemed to cut my sheet material quite accurate.

Thanks everyone.
As a secondary option I may only be opting for a short length of worktop (less than 1metre) and not replacing the full length of worktop after all.

What are the odds of finding a small length of worktop offcut for this purpose ? I may only need enough to cover a 600mm housing unit with a bit of overhang..I really can't face buying a 3metre length and having such waste left over.
