Don't tax them shout the tory plebs of this world.

Super Rich - your really should tax us.

More than 250 billionaires and millionaires are demanding that the political elite meeting for the World Economic Forum in Davos introduce wealth taxes to help pay for better public services around the world.

“Our request is simple: we ask you to tax us, the very richest in society,” the wealthy people said in an open letter to world leaders. “This will not fundamentally alter our standard of living, nor deprive our children, nor harm our nations’ economic growth. But it will turn extreme and unproductive private wealth into an investment for our common democratic future.”

The rich signatories from 17 countries include Disney heir Abigail Disney; Brian Cox who played fictional billionaire Logan Roy in Succession; actor and screenwriter Simon Pegg; and Valerie Rockefeller , an heir to the US dynasty.

I like how the dogs on here will be quick to defend the billionaires who want to pay more tax, when you say that you are saying tax me more so my master is taxed less.

Simple. All countries need to do the same BUT sorting out tax loop holes form multinationals like Apple and Microsoft should be done also.

Its never that easy though ...........

It could be easy though...

Tax at the source of income...

The septics do it (and beyond their borders), and that's why bojo renounced his US citizenship!

It's called transfer pricing where they shift costs and billing to jurisdictions where they can get a lower tax. This is why countries try to work together on taxing corporates.

So apple sell an item at £100 and say it costs £99 .............. what then?
Get fujitsu to work out the amount owed? ;)

Or maybe you get in some decent (non corrupt) accountantcy firms and let them sort it out?

Oh, but that would mean a shift away from corporate governance and a more democratic approach

Poverty inequality across the world is exploding, with the rich hoarding a disproportionate amount of global wealth while the already vulnerable are getting fewer resources. That’s according to a new report released this week by the nongovernmental organisation Oxfam. The charity publishes an annual report on world poverty to coincide with the yearly World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. The forum is a gathering of the world’s business elite – from CEOs of big corporations to self-made billionaires – to discuss global trade issues.

The world’s five richest men — LVMH chief Bernard Arnault, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, investor Warren Buffet, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and Tesla CEO Elon Musk — have seen their wealth double since 2020 and are earning $14m an hour, Oxfam’s report said. But while the world’s few rich elite pile up wealth, world poverty has increased for the first time in nearly three decades, Oxfam said.

Here’s why the charity says inequality is widening, and how it suggests redistributing the wealth...

Bingo!

Sell a phone here, can't offshore the profit and pay the (pitiful amount of) tax there (y)

Your comment doesn't make sense

The only way to nobble the international tax "cheats" would be to implement a turn over tax instead of corporation tax - but thats never going to happen

One of the most important factors driving the inequality gap further, Oxfam also found, was the absence of progressive taxation on the new wealth being generated. The report found that rich people are paying way less tax than they were a decade ago, in several countries. Half of the world’s billionaires, the report said, also live in countries where they don’t have to pay any taxes on inherited wealth, meaning that $5 trillion in wealth is set to be passed on, tax free.
