Hi,

I am looking at inserting a door into a wall from the inside of the house to access the garage that is part of the house. Could somebody advise me of the type of door I should use and if it has to be a fire door.

And what if any building regulations I need to be aware of, before I speak to the Building Control Dept in the next few days.

I would like the door to be an external / hard wood door where at least a five lever lock can be added for security.

The door will open into the garage from the house and then step down.

Cheers

1/2 hr fire doorset, door closer, intumescent strips and minimum 100mm step down or sloping garage floor away from the new door.

You don't need a "fire door", rather a "fire resistant door" - which would likely include external hardwood doors (and wired glass for any glazing)

If the wall is supporting anything above, then you need b/regs approval for the opening too - but its normally just a case of a concrete lintel

FD30 with smoke seals and a self closer.

The garage floor should either be 100mm down or sloped accordingly.
