Hi
I'm looking to split one large bedroom into two.
It will require a new entrance doorway knocking through on the landing.
The wall is a supporting wall.
As it is upstairs there is only three or four courses of bricks above where the doorway will be.
However when checking in the loft there is a purlin prop on this wall.
The prop does not sit above the potential doorway but it is within 60mm of the opening.
Is this allowed?
Would I need to spread the load?
Would i need a lintel above the door or can I remove the bricks above and replace with stud?
If a lintel is fitted this would the require bricks removing below the purlin prop as it is so close.
Any advise please?
Thanks in advance

Yes you need something strong enough to take the load and transfer it downwards to the foundations - via other adjacent walls

Thanks for the reply.
Sorry if I'm being thick but could you be more specific?
I have added a basic diagram in case my explanation wasnt very good
