Hi,

I have a Drayton Digistat 1 Room Thermostat which ran out of Battery. I replaced with a new set and it ran out within a month. I've now replaced with another new set of Alkaline Batteries (GP Ultra) and it again ran out within minutes.
Is there a short somewhere which is draining the Batteries or is something else wrong ?
Is there a straight replacemnet available which can be plugged in without re-wiring ?
Any help appreciated.

Wont be a short, the batteries only power the display and the internal switch, a genuine good pair should last about 2 years, you have a faulty stat or bad battery connections, these are very old stats , you would be better with something more modern, the wiring is only two wires and it doesnt matter which way round you wire them

Thanks a lot Ian. But they are no longer available, it seems. So, I need to replace them with another model. Do you know which ones are compatible (without a wiring change).
Regards

There may be a very tiny gap between the battery and its point of contact. Just put a tiny piece of aluminium foil to close the gap and see if it works.

Any battery powered stat will be an easy change you will have to swap the wires but very easy there are only two wires and you cant get them the wrong way round it will work either way

Thanks Ian & Peace3. I have cleaned / scratched the contacts of the Battery Compartment and also slightly bent the ineer contacts outward (in case it wasn't making contact, as the battery tary tends to pull out and fall). Have also tightened with cello tape and it seems to be working. Too early to say how long it lasts (lasted 1 day so far).

Am thinking of replacing with a Drayton Digistat + in case it doesn't work. Hope it'll be an easy DIY.
