Drayton LP111 acting strange

My parents have just moved into a flat with a combo boiler and an lp111 timer.
Heating not coming on reliably, although timer and thermostat correctly set up.
Just went round, it was set to "timer" and was an hour into the third timer period. Temperature at roomstat was a couple of degrees below temp when heating was on earlier today.
I opened the control panel on the lp111, reviewed the timer settings using the "Set" button, exited settings and then the boiler fired up. Rads heated up, all ok.
Pretty sure it has behaved like this once or twice before. At other times, it does come on according to the schedule.
Anyone ever seen this before?

Probably a sticky relay in the prog.

Advice - worth trying to fix (how?), or just replace?

Just replace is the best option. If you are experienced at electronics fault finding and repair there is nothing stopping you investigating further!
