Switching from an ESI ESRTP4RF+ to a Drayton Wiser with a Worcester Combi boiler (single zone/one channel)

The current wall plate wiring looks identical to the Drayton Wiser scheme, but just wanted to check if it would be plug n play.

Attached photos of current wiring on wall plate.

I currently have the matching wireless ESI thermostat to control the central heating. Should I just disconnect the batteries from the thermostat before I make the switch? Or is there anything else that needs to be done?

Any advice appreciated.

Not quite plug n play!

The Drayton backplate has 6 connections (+earth), whereas the ESI has 8.
The terminals used aren't quite the same either:

N to N
L to L
Add a link wire from L to terminal 1 (as on the ESI)
But move the green/yellow wire from terminal 2 to terminal 3 on the Drayton.

You also need to oversleeve the green/yellow wire, in brown, to denote it's a switched live (something that is forbidden under current regs).

Awesome, thanks for the input - was hoping that I wouldn't have to swap out the backplate so I could easily change my mind if I wanted to revert to the old system but oh well.

How would this effect me in the future? Failing inspections when selling the house?

No biggie - these regs aren't retrospective.
Any report would just say not to current regs.
Alternatively, it may be a relatively simple task to exchange the cable for a 3 core and earth flex.

Apologies for the hijacking, but may be worthwhile in the same thread in case anyone else comes across it.
About to do a similar swap from the esrtp4rf+ to a Drayton but with a slightly different wiring ( boiler fitter passed through power via the backplate).
I've just got linked L/N/G going to the boiler, and a separate wire in 1 (COM) and 2 (switched on).

I'd assume with mine it's the same situation of like for like on the Drayton plate except 2 (black) moving to 3.
