dried cement/mortar in mixer

Hi does anyone have ideas on how to remove hardened concrete/mortar from the inside of small mixer (it is not a solid block ,just covering the surface.) I assume it is too late now it has set. Circumstances mean't that we didn't have time to clean out after last job. It will presumably still work ok.

I've had my mixer for about 25 years and lent it once to a mate. Came back coated like yours. I put some gravel and water in it and ran it. It got most out although I think it annoyed the neighbours.
 
Break a brick into quarters and put these in with some water. It will soon remove the old cement, can be noisy though.
 
If the mixer is a Belle Minimix you could rotate the drum anti clock wise, this will more than likley be quite hard to do the older the mixer, once the drum is off put a bit of kindling inside the drum and light a small fire. the heat will loosen the concretes bond to the side of the drum and will drop off. don't make it too much of a fire i.e fill the drum with wood but just enough to get the drum nice and hot. Be careful where the drum is placed , keep it upright and away from any hazards which cause a more extensive fire.

Or you could just bash the drum with a hammer!
 
its not subtle but....tap the outside lightly with a club hammer (not so hard as you dent it). dont put your head inside while tapping as it gets a bit noisey!
