Hi
Does anyone know if there's anything in then UK building regulations stopping you from drilling into a brick stanchion holding up one side of a lintel?
I just want to add a few screws to attach a strip of wood from the floor to the height of the lintel - maybe about five screws in total on one side. But I don't know if there's any restrictions on this kind of thing. I've searched online but all the results are about drilling through the lintel itself.
It's in an ensuite bathroom I'm installing myself that will need to be signed off by building control so I don't want to do anything that will weaken the bearing or won't be approved.
