Electric Vehicle Charging Stations --Installation

Has anyone installed an Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVSE) at their home yet?

I am wondering if there are any special laws or regulations...specifically for any of the following
1. Earthing?
2. Does the installation need to be done by a professional?
3. Any restrictions for Mode 2 charging?
4. What types of circuit protection are necessary?
5. What is the maximum amperage available for charge?
6. RCDs are they required are they not required? What types are used if they are required?

I am interested in anywhere in the EU, Australia, New Zealand, China.

Yes, I fitted one in the UK in 2012.

1. The earthing was via a 4 foot copper rod, hammered into the ground.
The installation was isolated from the household earthing system.

2. Yes, or at the very least, someone who is very familiar with the electrical codes or regulations for the country they are installing in.

3. Level 2 or Mode 2? If Mode 2: The vehicle is connected to the power through a household socket-outlet. Charging is done via a single or 3 phase connection with an earthing cable. A device for protection (RCD) is built into the cable. The restrictions here are a slower charge.

4. Circuit breaker and RCD (or GFCI I guess)

5. I fitted a 3.3kW 230V 16A point.

6. RCD's definitely required. I used a 30mA Type A RCD, but that may not be suitable in all situations. Further, I believe Type B is now recommended.
