email notifacation sound

I receive a notification sound from "windows live mail" but not from "outlook" ... I prefer outlook to windows live, Do I have to add an add on?

ok it's W8 and IE 10..

1. What version of Outlook?

2. What type of e-mail account (POP, IMAP, MAPI or Exchange Server) are you connecting to?

3. Do you have Skype installed on the computer? There is a known issue with Skype 6.1.
