We are in the middle of building works for our house extension. We have a pre approved porch from a full Council planning application which is 3 mtrs high, 2 mtrs deep and 3 mtrs wide but is meant to be an open porch (more than permitted development allowance)

Just curious to know your opinions as we are now thinking of enclosing the porch with the main door ( porch door) but still ok to have an exterior door where the original door is meant to go. We won’t be using this space as an habitable area. It’s mainly for the added security to have an enclosed porch and don’t want any gross internal area calculations going wrong with the council.

Has anyone been through this kind of a situation ? Do we need to reapply to the council for this tiny change which makes me nervous been through the process twice

It's a material change, not a "tiny" change.

This would not normally be an amendment, but require a new application.

Thanks for your reply! Do you think this would be a straightforward new application though that would
reference our already plans. I am asking as the original open porch is bigger than PD?
TIA

You would just apply for what you want to do.

If built or partly built, you would show that on any plans if its relevant in any views, so for instance the canopy roof of the open porch would be shown on the drawing (anoted as "roof approved on application ref: xxxxxx"), and the permission being applied for would be just for the walls etc below.

However if the porch roof needs to change, you would have to apply for that too.
