I need to use non Epson inks in my old stylus photo printer can I prevent the software from sensing these? any ideas please

The cartridges use a "chip" to identify it to the printer. Many non-genuine inks use cloned chips, but a few do use "recycled" genuine chips. However, in my experience, non-genuine cartridges in Epsons very quickly cause the print heads to block rendering the printer unsericeable

I have a functioning Stylus DX7450 some years old.
Using compatable cartridges from internetink.co.uk since first purchase early May 2013, 40 cartridges, comprising two full sets 3 colours + black and two extra blacks.
Prior to that was buying Epson cart's.
No problems so far. (Win10 n'all).

Did your old printer come with cartridges that contained a chip.
My old Stylus Colour EX has never had chipped cartridges and I could use any replacements. I'm not sure when the idea of chips in cartridges came in, but you need to find out if your old printer actually uses them.

the dx 4000 has got chipped cartridges and I have used compatible inks for some time but when I now use print the display none Epson inks shows and when I override this by continue it keeps performing a head clean this had not happened previously and I cant understand why
That is strange that the same thing hasn't happened before. Have you changed the source of your compatible cartridges, or has the same supplier changed the chips supplied in their cartridges? Perhaps you could ask them.
I don't know much about these chips, but I wonder whether there might be some way of replacing the ones that don't work with some that you have used previously and which have worked. I'm surprised that some enterprising individual hasn't yet come up with some software to override the chip-recognisation components in the printer.
I do find it annoying that Epson (and others) can charge so much for their ink when, having done their research and development to come up with the ideal ink formula, the production costs thereafter cannot be that high and large profits can be made. Greed.
I used to use the SSC service utility software when I had an Epson printer.
A Google search will find it.
AS I remember it allows you to reset the cartridges.
TBH though, I stopped using the replacement ink and cartridges and went back to the proper ones. They're OK for text and so on, but if you're using them for photos the colours aren't as good, and they fade very quickly.

Finally I have picked up this thread again to let those who responded, know the outcome of my problem, As I said the printer kept repeating the head clean process,and being totally p----d of I put it in the shed for the next tip trip. I was later told to manually force the print head out of the head clean position (Left ) to break the chip connection, having done this it went into the usual clean process and parked. I have had no further problems with this . Relating to colour reproduction the inks I use are as good as Epson I have some good prints of photos I have taken, many thank your input, ( not sure if am allowed to give the details of the inks I use on this forum )
