Epson SX515W - patchy black print

I've taken all the inks out, flushed the heads by syringing printer cleaner through them.

Installed new inks.

Have done several heads cleans through the printer maintenance but the black is still patchy.

Red, yellow and blue are perfect.

Suggestions welcome!

Its not my printer so I had to download and install drivers to my PC to test it.

I'm looking into how to strip it and clean all the pipes out.

Not familiar with this particular model, but from experience with Epson printers in the past I'd recommend gently cleaning the heads with a cotton bud dipped in Isopropyl alcohol (or even the head cleaner) or similar. It sounds like you possibly have partially blocked heads - head cleaner will take the path of least resistance so not unblocking the heads which are blocked. Blocked heads are common on Epsons as unlike some others the heads are part of the printer rather than part of the cartridges. Good luck!
